An Addendum

Asalaam Alaikum (Peace be with you),

In June, I posted a piece written by Kanjwal and Zarafshar, two Muslim women at Georgetown, and their convictions about hijab not just as a piece of cloth, but as a symbol of identity. This is an ongoing topic of interest for me since I'm slowly getting used to the "hijabi" culture and I've been reading more and more about it.

I thought I'd post two links to articles written by Andrea Useem and Asra Nomani for Slate. Check them out and leave comments if possible:

"How Muslim women decide to put on - and take off - hijab"

"Why do Western publishers have a veil fetish?"
